How Thermal Imaging Works
During the manhunt after the Boston bombing the perpetrators needed to be brought to justice. The only problem was no matter how much of a massive advantage in manpower and aggressive force, authorities had trouble finding the perpetrators. Eventually the search was narrowed down by a handy tip from a suspicious homeowner. The homeowner suggested that the suspects might be hiding inside a large covered boat sitting in a driveway. Unfortunately the suspects were hidden from plain sight, in order to pinpoint the exact position in the boat or see if they were armed the officers needed a clear visual. Working in the dark played a major role in subduing the suspects. That’s when a thermographic camera was used and successfully saved the day. The heat signatures that was picked up, confirmed the positions of the suspects and made it possible for a safe containment.
Thermo graphic cameras help the world enjoy so many nocturnal creatures that roam the earth, besides catching criminal suspects. The usage of thermal graphic cameras give us insight on underwater species as well. As the world’s technology continues to evolve, the conventional way of using thermal imaging will never be the same again. Some of our first encounters with wildlife may have developed from the thermal imaging and many more surprising discoveries.
